  • Mark Perchtold
    CA(SA), CFA

    Mark spent just under 12 years at Goldman Sachs most of which was in the Investment Management Division in London where he gained experience in asset allocation, equities, fixed income, alternative investments and derivatives.

    Preceding Goldman Sachs he was a Manager at KPMG in the Consumer Markets Audit and Assurance division where he spent nearly 4 years. Mark qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa following a Bachelor of Accountancy degree at the University of the Witwatersrand and remains a member of SAICA (which has reciprocity with ICAEW). Mark is also a CFA Charterholder and has been investing in financial markets since 1998.

  • David Pierson

    David was previously a Programme Manager at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Preceding his time at EBRD he spent 5 years at Barclays Wealth where he was responsible for numerous IT and change related projects including integrations and migrations of software systems.

    David has a wealth of experience in Technology and Change roles which includes managing global projects and development teams within both financial institutions and startups, running a national Archiving business and has hands-on experience in software development and architecture.

    David holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand where he majored in Information Systems and Management Accounting and he also holds a Prince Practitioner Certification.

  • Andre Roux
    Non-Executive Director

    André founded and was CEO of Ethos Private Equity, one of the largest private equity firms in South Africa and a highly respected firm within the Emerging Markets Private Equity sector. André is currently Deputy Chairman of Ethos Private Equity and is also currently serving as a Senior Advisor and Chair of the Africa Council of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA). André has previously served as a director at the EMPEA, non-executive director at Alexander Forbes Holdings (Pty) Ltd, non-executive director at Sphere Private Equity and CEO of FirstCorp Capital Investors (Pty) Ltd and FirstCorp Merchant Bank.

    André is a South African qualified Chartered Accountant and member of SAICA. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Higher Diploma in Tax Law from the University of the Witwatersrand and has completed the Senior Executive Programme at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

  • Andrew Limberis
    CA(SA), CFA
    Investment Manager

    Andrew joined Omba full time in September 2017 and was previously a Manager at EY, in London, in the Banking and Capital Markets division. Andrew also worked in the Johannesburg and New York offices of EY where he audited asset managers, hedge funds and other financial services firms. Preceding his time at EY he was an Associate Lecturer in Management Accounting and Finance at the University of the Witwatersrand where he obtained his Master of Commerce (Accountancy) and was awarded the top student prize.

    Andrew is a CFA charterholder and scored above the 90% percentile of all global candidates for the CFA Level III exam. Andrew is also a South African qualified Chartered Accountant and member of SAICA.

  • Nicholas Cutler

    Nicholas has a variety of professional experiences across trading, technology, and risk management.
    Nicholas previously worked as a derivatives trader at The Tiberius Group, a Swiss-based physical commodity trading house and hedge fund. Nicholas started his career at Glencore, where he worked within the centralised risk team which modelled, monitored, and reported market risk across the entire firm. Nicholas has extensive experience in middle-office
    risk management and quantitative risk modelling.

    Nicholas graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Mathematics with Finance from the University of Manchester.

  • Stephen Brierley
    Head of Fund Distribution

    Before joining Omba Stephen spent 12 years with Old Mutual as a Senior Portfolio Manager for their multi manager boutique. He ran both hedge fund and multi asset class portfolios and is experienced in manager due diligence, asset allocation and portfolio construction.  In his more recent years with Old Mutual he also headed up business development and marketing for the business. In this role he was responsible for driving the business and marketing strategy and sales into the retail market.

    Stephen has over 20 years of experience in the investment industry, prior to Old Mutual he worked for M Cubed Capital which was one of the very first multi managers to be launched in South Africa. Stephen studied for his B.Comm at Rhodes University where he majored in Economics, Commercial Law and Information Systems.

  • Adam Rudd
    Senior Portfolio Manager

    Adam was an Investment Director at Aberdeen Standard Investments in Edinburgh for eight years. He was portfolio manager for Global Absolute Return Strategies and led the team responsible for managing Global Tactical Asset Allocation portfolios.

    Adam previously spent seven years at J.P.Morgan in London and New York as an Equity Derivatives Strategist, responsible for publishing research and advising J.P.Morgan’s institutional and hedge fund clients on investing in global equity and cross asset-derivatives markets.

    Adam holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Edinburgh with joint honours in Mathematics and Philosophy, and was a CFA Charterholder 2009-2020.

  • Micheal Stathopoulos
    M.Sc, B.Sc
    Senior Analyst

    Michael previously worked at Commerzbank and their Equity Research team focusing on European Real Estate and Autos. He subsequently moved to Debt Capital Markets before joining Omba. He has also done internships at Scott Partners, a long-only fund, and National Bank of Greece Securities, while studying for his M.Sc and B.Sc.

    Michael holds a Master in Investment Management with distinction from Bayes Business School (ex-Cass) and a Bachelor in Banking and Financial Management from the University of Piraeus. He has passed CFA Level I.

  • Kirsty Wilson
    CA(SA), M.Com
    Business Development

    Kirsty is involved in building out the South African business of Omba. She started her career at Deloitte in the financial services department. She subsequently worked in the finance department at Aerobotics, a South African based agi-tech startup, and co-founded a boutique corporate tax advisory business specialising in assisting startups with their tax compliance. Her recent work has also included advising on the tax, structuring and financial affairs of a wealthy family with involvement in managing a property portfolio and a number of other investments. Kirsty completed her Bachelors of Business Science degree at the University of Cape Town where she was placed on the Dean’s Merit List in each of her academic years. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant in South Africa and member of SAICA. Kirsty has also completed her Master of Commerce degree specialising in international tax law and is a registered tax practitioner in South Africa.
